Your challenge

As Lead AI Engineer, you own the technical direction and delivery of our AI projects.

You work directly with clients, shape architectures, build core components yourself, and guide other engineers. You’re not just implementing, you’re deciding how things should be built.

You’ll operate across the full lifecycle: from discovery and solution design to implementation, deployment, and iteration in production. In these projects, you will be able to make maximum use of all your knowledge and experience and will also be able to further develop yourself.

Some of your responsibilities:

• Design and deliver end-to-end AI systems (often agent-based or RAG architectures)
• Lead technical architecture across the AI stack: APIs, services, data flows, infrastructure
• Build production AI applications using Python, LangGraph, and the AWS serverless stack
• Research emerging GenAI / agentic patterns and turn them into concrete solutions
• Define best practices around reliability, safety, observability, and MLOps
• Act as technical lead on projects: make architectural calls, unblock engineers, keep quality high
• Advise customers on AI strategy and technology choices, and be a sparring partner between your colleague engineers
• Coach engineers through code reviews, pairing, and design sessions with a focus on technical excellence
• Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of solutions.
• Contribute to team growth by actively participating in team building and knowledge sharing initiatives.

The perfect match?

Convinced that you can fill this role perfectly? Our ideal Lead (AI) Engineer has the following skills and expertise:

• Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
• At least 6 years of experience as a Software Engineer
• Solid system design skills (APIs, distributed systems, cloud architecture)
• Experience with LLM-based systems: RAG, agents, embeddings, prompt pipelines, evaluation
• Comfortable owning technical decisions end-to-end
• Experience with data engineering is a big plus.
• Excellent communication skills in both English and Dutch, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts and collaborate effectively with team members and customers.
• A positive, constructive attitude with a natural ability to guide others while being open to different perspectives.
• Strong analytical skills and technical knowledge, enabling you to build high-quality, scalable products.
• Passion, drive and the mindset to continuously learn and innovate within a dedicated team.
